Finding Hope in the Midst of Heartache

The story of a mother and daughter as they travel through 10 years of bad choices made by the daughter and heartache felt by the mother.

Mother (Karilee) writes her perspective of each stage, telling about her spiritual journey, questions, prayers, and searching. She describes how God brought her the gift of hope, even when she thought her daughter was lost.

Daughter (Wendi) writes what she was feeling and choosing, and why. Through jolting and intensely personal descriptions, Wendi chronicles her emotional life from the time she separated from God until the day she realized her helplessness and need to regain the faith of her childhood.

(from the back cover) Does God Even Hear My Prayers?

When Karilee first learned that her daughter Wendi was pregnant at sixteen years old, she felt like a hit-and-run victim. But that was only the beginning of the shocking events in Wendi’s life that would hallmark the next decade.

Wild Child, Waiting Mom is the true story of one family’s journey through ten years of poor choices and heartache, uniquely told through the eyes of a mother, Karilee, and her prodigal daughter, Wendi. Through personal and transparent writing, Wendi chronicles her emotional life from the time she separated from God until the day she realized her helplessness. Karilee describes how God brought her the gift of hope, even when she thought her daughter would never listen to God’s voice again.

If you are a parent of a teen who has made bad choices and is now living them out, Wild Child, Waiting Mom will bring you hope as you read how God worked to bring this family to wholeness and healing.

Thank you for this book…it is like a balm to my aching, hurting soul. There is no pain like that of a prodigal. Unfortunately we have experienced much silence from our church, it makes me weep how lonely and painful this journey has needlessly been for our family. I am going to recommend this book to our Youth Pastor (offer to buy a copy) so parents don’t have to suffer alone. Perhaps the next parent whose child goes sideways will have the support we needed but didn’t get. Your book is invaluable.

I will let you know of our miracle. I know it will come, in God’s time…I get out of bed every morning because “Nothing is impossible with God.” Luke 1:37.

The quote you used, “As sure as ever God puts His children in the furance He will be in the furance with them.” Charles Haddon Spurgeon is excellent. I have written it down.

Thank you soooo much for being my encourager, today is my daughter’s 17th birthday. Your book makes the day bearable and hopeful. I try not to cry but often I do…

Press in and Press On! Our God is able to do exceeding abundantly more than we could ask or imagine (Eph. 3:20).

    In Christ,

    Heather Schmidt
